Willem Vermandere, Milan

I was only saying yesterday that I've been thinking a lot about Milan of late. Then the very next day, serendipity throws a playlist on precisely that topic. While Willem Vermandere also returns us to the Dutch theme of a couple of days ago. There are obvious historical connections between the two places through "The Dutch Revolt" and their respective roles in European and world trade, but I suspect that the semi-conscious connection that brought them together for me was their 'liminal' character, i.e. their roles as crossroads, boundaries, and meeting points for European cultures over the centuries.
