“The Bonnie Lass o' Fyvie” is a song that I used to sing quite often, but haven't sung for years. It's here because it's about time I re-familiarised myself with the words. Truth to tell, the main reason I gradually stopped singing it was that it was just too long — and without a chorus to give listeners something to do, while waiting for the story to unfold. It's still too long, but I'm a sucker for songs that tell a story. Especially, those with a grain of historical fact behind them. The Paris set features some of my favourites from or about the city.
