Rolando Alarcón, Coulter's Candy

Rolando Alarcón, literally, died 'on the road' at the relatively young age of 43. As he toured the country is support of Allende's election campaign in 1973. The Pinochet coup and its extermination of opposition singers and songs meant it was quite a long time before this leader of the Nueva Cancion movement returned to the attention of Chileans and the world at large. Nevertheless, he left a substantial legacy of recordings which I'm sampling here and will explore further in the coming months. Coulter's Candy is a family favourite from the Tom Fisher songbook. 1956 is bit of a mix, as is Dutch Monday.
