After yesterday's dip into Victor Jara's oeuvre, it's probably no coincidence that Mercedes Sosa is the main feature today. And also no surprise for anyone familiar with Latin America's “nueva canción”. I tend to prefer Jara's 'poppy' simplicity and vocal harmonies, but there's no denying her virtuosity with the Spanish guitar. As yesterday, her contribution shades out the other 3 components of today's list. But, that said, there is some pretty cool soul in the 1973 set.
