It's very much a dance day today. Hoping the sun comes out to match the mood. We start in Trinidad with Soca, which is basically just Calypso, updated in the 70s and 80s. I adore the sound of that period, but feel that the genre has lost its way more recently. With way too much simplistic, unmelodic, influence from rap and/or drum & bass. Fortunately, there are 10 versions of Len Barry's 1965 classic 1-2-3 — in five languages. And a further dollop of 60s soul from 1963. And German Wednesday delivers a little bit more.
