Today's list is organised around 2 themes that I've been itching to publish on for weeks — the Brazilian Jovem Guarda genre and the Italian song “Piove”. Unfortunately, every time I've been reminded of them, I've just published lists containing rather similar stuff. “Piove” is pretty well known, but by its refrain rather than its title — “Ciao ciao bambina”. In addition to the well-known Italian renditions, we've got offerings in Dutch, French, Spanish and German. I've tried to focus on the better known members of the young guard. There will be, no doubt, some rarer and obscure exponents in forthcoming lists. 1969 is a fairly random sampler of European and Latin pop from that year. Whereas English Sunday is mostly folk — makes a change from soul, no?
