Ray Pollard en colère

I'm really going to enjoy listening to this playlist, starting at the top with Ray Pollard. Like many northern soul boys, my first encounter with Ray's awesome voice was on “The Drifter”. And my first thought on hearing it was: “This knocks Tom Jones into a cocked hat, why isn't he better known?”. Of course, I later learned, that he had enjoyed a smidgeon of celebrity in the US as lead singer with “The Wanderers”. And perhaps part of the explanation for his relative obscurity lies in the fact that several of the songs he recorded were just not up to the quality of his voice. That said, some of those songs were just so “tricksy” that a lesser singer wouldn't have dared attempt them.
