Like my sisters and my mum, I learnt “The Calton Weaver” from my dad (as “Nancy Whisky”). It's getting a run out now, because I'm no longer sure that I can remember all the words — despite it being one of those 'stock' lyrics that I used to be able to fall back on, when there was no time to learn something new. The selection from Kev Roberts' Northern Soul Top 500 contains one of my all-time favourites (Doris Troy). 1958 is half Northern. While Italian Thursday is mostly 60s Italpop.
