It's a day for going back to classic soul and R&B. The featured song set, “Ain't No Mountain High Enough”, — contains one or two rare renditions that deserve a hearing — alongside the Diana Ross, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell classics. Obvious, the Funk Brothers on their own, rather than merely backing those three are worth a few minutes. The R&B set stretches from 1949 to 1961. And while it contains a couple of classics, the bulk is provided by tracks that never, or barely, made it to UK shores at the time they were issued. Spanish Friday is a bit of a mix.
