Sunday is an English language day and, by coincidence, two of the other sub-lists are mostly anglo-american. Los Angeles Soul just doesn't have the caché of Detroit, Chicago, Nashville or New Orleans. But it definitively has the tracks, the artists and some of the finest production. Obviously, sea shanties are not exclusively white or anglo-saxon — as three francophone renderings of Santiano demonstrate. And, of course, most of the 1958 tracks are rooted in Black R&B.
