Another day dominated by steps to recover from New Year sleep loss.
Definite progress, signalled by sticking to the routine throughout, including a good and timely bike ride.
Outcomes were also good on balance. Productivity was around or just above the daily average and I was ready for bed an hour earlier.
Review
An inauspiscious start. I set my alarm for 9am, but woke at 7am. I attempted to roll-over for another sleep cycle, but I was far too alert — my ears and brain picking up every knock and scratch around the building.
I expected that would mean suffering the symptoms of sleep deprivation later — and it did. My eyes and lower forehead were throbbing by 9am, although I was still wide awake. There was little immediate prospect of recovering the lost sleep cycle by means of a short nap.
In the end, I had a few momentary 'nodding' episodes while watching telly, but never got a proper nap.
Good points
- Got going earlier than yesterday — and got more done
- Worked pretty consistently throughout the day
- Sharpened understanding of Vogt's 'principal parts'
- Did quite a lot of 'listen and talk' exercises
- Did enough 'read and write' grammar exercises
- Completed chilly bike ride
Must do better:
- Get to bed before 0000 tomorrow
- Balance company admin with project and maintenance
- End breaks and short distractions more abruptly
