English Folk, Anyone Who Had A Heart

Burt Bacharach really was at the top of his game in the 1960s. Sometimes it feels like he wrote every one of those pop anthems that advertisers use to evoke 60s optimism, with the purpose of selling us everything from breakfast cereals to holidays in the sun. “Anyone Who Had A Heart” is definitely one of those. As a Google search will confirm, for most Brits the song title evokes 'memories' — real and imagined — of Cilla Black. For yanks it'll be Dionne Warwick. Hopefully, this playlist will prove that there were many more interpretations around, and almost all of them superior to Cilla's tinny effort, and a few better than Warwick's.
