Today is very much a 60s soul day. The featured song “Reach Out I'll Be There” is known to all, but this selection? Not so much. There's only one English language version. And that one's not from the Four Tops. They make it on to the list, via the Italian cover “Gira, Gira”. Obviously, all the Northern Soul fits in the 60s soul category. Which is probably why 1965 delivers more of a folk-poppy feel than it normally would. Although a fair slice of 60s R&B makes it back into the reckoning via French Tuesday.
